Sunflower hulls (SFH) are the byproducts obtained after a crushing operation of sunflower seeds. The nutrient composition of SFH varies considerably depending on the type of seed. In general, SFH contained approximately 5–7.1% crude protein (CP), 3–11% fat and 42.4–56% acid detergent fiber. Sunflower seeds are mostly used for the extraction of oil; however, they are also a valuable source of protein and fat for ruminants.
